Ted Bruehl AIFD (email = tblsaifd@yahoo.com)

Ted Bruehl AIFD is design manager for The Chocolate Rose in Irving, TX. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and has a previous career as a classical musician. Ted entered the floral industry in the early 80’s as a driver in his aunt’s shop in his native Norman, OK.

Ted attended the Shelton School of Floral Design in Houston, TX. in the mid 80’s and soon moved there to work. He developed his skills with high style design and tropical flowers while at Kirby Glen Floral Studio. He left for Washington, D.C. at the end of the 80’s where he worked for several years gaining experience in party work and floral installations at Flower Gallery. He moved to the Dallas area in 1990 where he began working at The Chocolate Rose. At the same time he commuted to Oklahoma City to serve as the Teaching Assistant for the design schools at the AFS home office. Ted was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) in 1993.

Ted has designed for floral shows throughout the U.S. and Mexico. He has done seminars for Dallas Market Center as well as assisting with showroom set-ups. He does product development in Hong Kong and China. He was part of the design team that created decorations for the New Year’s 2000 parties at several Mirage Resorts hotels in Las Vegas.

Ted has had an active role in the floriculture department at Richland College in Richardson, TX, guest speaking several times a semester in their design classes. He was also professor of Floral Shop Management. Currently Ted is on the staff of Fiorissima Internacional in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Ted served as Treasurer of the South Central region of AIFD for many years. He was the Chairman of the AIFD National Membership Committee for two years, teaches for the Education Committee, and sits on the CFD committee. He served as the Chairman of the 2001 Texas State Florists Association convention.

Ted’s design work has been featured in Professional Floral Designer Magazine (PFD), the BloomNet Wedding Guide, and Prom and Homecoming Book ll by John Henry Co.
