Cherrie started her floral career in 1981, opening a small neighborhood flower shop in Northwest Denver. She realized quickly that floristry was her life’s calling. In 1988, she passed her Master Florist curriculum and in 1989, became a certified instructor of Sogetsu Ikebana. In 2000, Cherrie was inducted into AIFD and in 2004, she became the first woman from Colorado to be inducted into the American Academy of Floriculture, AAF. In 2002, Cherrie was the charter president of the Colorado Retail Florist Association Retail Florist CRFA – now called FAR – Floral Association of the Rockies. She achieved FAR’s certification process in 2008, Certified Professional Florist, CPF.  

Cherrie has taught accredited floral design for Front Range Community College. She has been a staff designer for Fiesta Parade Floats, for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, since 2000 She teaches hands on workshops for florists across the state of Colorado. She is currently Chair for the Student Competition Committee for AIFD. She also has sat on South Central Region of AIFD Board of Directors.

She continues to operate her flower shop, Cherry Blossoms Florist with the love and vigor she had when she opened her shop over 30 years ago.
